In tales written long ago

In stories of castles, wind and snow

In lofty thoughts that thrill your soul

There is almost always a mirror.

Mirrors reveal us as we are

They tell us of wonders from afar

They let us ponder and dream as we gaze and gaze into a sometimes dusty haze…

And I wish I were a magic mirror.

I wish I were your mirror.

I would remind you, “How lovely you are,”

Even when you didn’t feel that way

I would tell you, “You’re not just pretty…”

And I would say to you each day -

That you’re kind, and generous, and caring

And that I believe in you no matter what

And when you fall down or make a mistake

You’re always welcome here – Nothing from you my kindness can take.

I would tell you to spend time with God and depend on his care and with the courage he gives you to go forward and dare

To be different and unique and aim for the best

Be content with your life and how God has blessed

And remember the good things when life brings a test.
