Ember's Song
Most of the time
You're like a blooming flower
Or sunlight in a shower
During the summer
When the rain falls in sheets
On the horizon
And rainbows fill the sky
As far as you can see
And that's what people see
When you're working hard and helping them
Meeting needs and smiling again
Even though your feet might be so very tired...
But sometimes
When you lose
When you hurt
When only dark blues
Color your world
You need to leave the race
And sit near a fireplace
To hear embers sing their song
Of wood turning to ashes
And sparks flying upward
Through the chimney
Into the sky
And in the quiet hour
His Spirit moves you
To remember that He is
The Father of Eternity
The Ancient of Days
Wonderful
Counselor
Mighty God
Prince of Peace
And there you can find release
From all the noisy ramblings
That try to take you away
From the simple thoughts
That take your fears and worries away
And you can hear Him say,
"Come away, in your mind, come away."
